West Toronto Community Health Services (WTCHS) is a merger of three service providers: Regeneration Community Services, Four Villages and Storefront Humber. This merger brought mental health and addiction workers, homecare workers, and community health workers together in one agency.
But we haven’t had one voice to advance our rights and needs as workers.
Since the merger, unionized workers have been unable to negotiate new terms while non-unionized workers have remained without important protections.
Workers will soon have a chance to exercise our voice and vote on which union will represent us. This choice is incredibly important.
From three groups of workers, we’ll soon be creating a new, unified collective agreement for all WTCHS workers. And provisions around seniority, layoff, recall, job postings and grievances will carry forward from whichever union gets the most votes.
CUPE’s collective agreement has strong language in these areas and others. And we think CUPE is your best bet to secure a good deal for all WTCHS workers. Visit the page for your workplace to find out why.
